About Us

Black Ink Partners is an independent boutique actuarial advisory firm focused on Asset-Liability and Capital Management ('ALCM') for insurers and asset managers across Asia.

The firm is founded by Jateen Vaghela, a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries with over 20 years of experience spanning investment banking, consulting, and insurance. Jateen is based in Hong Kong and advises across the region.

His work centres on the ALM Control Cycle — a proprietary four-pillar framework covering product development & pricing, investment strategy, hedging, and valuation and reporting. This integrated approach helps firms move beyond siloed risk management toward balance sheet optimisation that serves both policyholders and shareholders.

Jateen is a published author in The Actuary and the Actuarial Society of Hong Kong, and a regular contributor on ALM strategy, the Guarantee Dilemma, and regulatory reform across Asian markets.
